Major NC city weighs downtown curfew after brawl

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) _ Officials in one of North Carolina's largest cities will hold an emergency meeting in the aftermath of a weekend brawl to consider restoring a downtown curfew for teenagers.

Greensboro's City Council meets Wednesday to consider reinstating a teen curfew for about two months.

The emergency meeting comes after a massive fight involving an estimated 400 people downtown on Saturday night.

Greensboro police arrested 11 people ranging in age from 16 to 20-years-old. Officers had to call in reinforcements and use pepper spray and a stun gun to try to get the crowd under control.

The city imposed a curfew in 2011 banning children under 18 from being out unsupervised from 11 p.m to 6 a.m. Adults who allowed children to break curfew were subject to fines of up to $200.
